This is a corrective solution for a badly tainted tooth, on which whitening efforts have no effects. This thin layer (4 to 6 tenth of a millimeter) is stuck directly on the visible face of the tooth. The tooth is prepared:
under local anesthetic: the tooth enamel is prepared on 0.2 to 0.3 mm, so as to be able to receive the future facet. A temporary facet is built and applied at the same time.
Imprint: imprints of the tooth are done to enable the prosthetist to build the final facets.
Placement of the facet: with a bio material such as cement-paste, the facet is placed permanently.
The advantages of a dental facet: the tooth remains alive and the preparation is easier than for a typical ceramo-metallic crown. The only disadvantage is the facet unsticking. Pastes are performant but they need to be reapplied every 10 years approx.
