• Administrative formalities
European citizens must imperatively have a valid passport or a valid national ID card, whatever their age is. If not, entry on the Hungarian territory will be forbidden and the expulsion immediate. Children under 18 are not exempted from providing a valid travel ID with picture. Presenting a family book will not guarantee the entry in Hungary, or the return to France.

   About Budapest

Budapest, capital of Hungary is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. With nearly 2 million of inhabitants, the city kept its soul in spite of the last few years of fast modernization. Some information on Sopron

Sopron is very near the Austrian border, midway between Vienna and Budapest. It is a symbolic city and heroic in the eyes of Hungarian, since it has managed to resist both the Mongolian and Ottoman. Sopron is a city of 50 000 souls has nearly 400 dentists where it should hardly be more than 20. Sopron as Budapest became a capital of dental travel. It comes from Austria, of course, but also Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

   The royal palace

   Built over the foundations of the castle edified in the 14th century, the actual palace represents the colorful history of Budapest, with the variety of its architecture styles. It includes three museums, one of which is the Historic Museum of Budapest, which, besides the interesting collections exposed, invites you to discover the Renaissance room and the Gothic room for an insight into daily life at the time of the founder kings.

Finished in 1848, destroyed in 1945, then built exactly the same way, it’s also named after István Széchenyi, who designed the layouts and financed its building. First bridge to link the two riverbanks of the city, 1246 feet long, it inaugurated the economic growth of Pest and its reunification with Buda to become Budapest in 1873.

 

  Marguerite island 1640 feet wide, this island is a safety haven compared to the animated life of the city. Over 1,55 miles, it offers a heavenly place to go for a walk where the transportation by car is totally forbidden, only buses and minibuses have the right to run. Shaded paths, blossoming gardens, equipped beaches, tennis courts, green sceneries, and thermal springs are right across cafés and restaurants terraces and the prestigious Grand Hotel. All of that constitutes the most beautiful park in Budapest.

The collection is especially rich in pop-art pieces, works of German, French and American artists of the 80’s, as well as pieces of art of the 90’s and later.

   The Kiscelli Museum (III. Kiscelli u. 108)
It is the museum in Budapest, that has the most natural scenic environment. It was originally a conventual house belonging to the Trinitarian. You can take a look at the exhibition on the city modern history, based on the collections of the History Museum of Budapest, as well as the collections of art of the City Gallery.

   The National Gallery of Hungary (I. Dísz tér 17).

    This collection is located in the buildings B, C and D of the Palace of Buda Castle, and exhibits a hundred thousand art pieces, from the Magyar conquest to today’s art. (permanent exhibition: Lapidary Museum of the Middle Ages; wood sculpture and gothic painted wood panels; altar piece with multiple shutters from the late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art pieces).

   Nightlife in Budapest

 The illuminated city offers different night plans. The casinos are open: the Las Vegas casino is open 24 hours, the Tropicana Casino (V. Vigadó u. 2 Tél. 266-3062) is open from 11pm to 6am.
The Moulin Rouge is a theater, a cabaret, a restaurant and a café (VI. Nagymezo u. 17 Tel. 373-0577). It closes at 4am. The Old Man's music hall (VII. Akácfa u.13. Tel. 322-7645) closes at the same time.

The Ferenc Liszt plaza, close to the Octagon as well Ráday street and starting from Kálvin plaza, is welcoming you with its various little bars, restaurants and nice cafés. These places close at 1 or 2am and are always full of young people.
